I’m Jaudat, a Chicago-based visual artist, muralist, and illustrator. I’m drawn to the stories people carry and to the way a gesture, a figure, or a bold stretch of color can say something words cannot.

My life has moved between Pakistan, the United States, and Canada. Each place, along with the adversity & changes I’ve experienced along the way, has shaped how I see the world and what I choose to make. Motherhood has added another layer to that perspective, drawing my attention to memory, legacy, and the moments we hold onto. My background in business, sales, and real estate has also taught me to pay close attention to people and the spaces they make their own.

Art had always pulled at me, but the pandemic became a turning point. I was ready for a change. A benefit project for a cause I cared about gave me a place to begin, and I kept going. Teaching myself new skills, learning to illustrate in Procreate, and growing from painting on smaller surfaces to creating murals. That path became Jaudat R Art.

Women are often at the heart of my work. I create art about identity, belonging, places, and lived experiences, the stories that make us different and the ones that connect us. Color is part of how I tell those stories. I move between palettes to express different feelings, letting the mood of each piece guide the choices I make.

My work takes many forms. I paint original pieces, often in acrylic, and create custom murals for homes and businesses. I’ve also brought my art onto silk & a range of products. Digital illustration is a part of my practice I especially love; it gives me room to explore expressive figures and movement, and to follow an idea wherever it leads.

Whatever the medium, I want my work to leave an impact, to hold your attention, stir something in you, and inspire you to see beauty even in the hardest times.
